The Department<\/h2>\n

Mathematics and Computer Science Department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, Bachelor\u00a0of Science (B.S.) and Masters in Computers and Information Science. The B.S. in\u00a0mathematics provides two options: one option relates to students interested in professional or graduate\u00a0programs requiring extensive Math backgrounds. The other Math option is for those preparing to teach in public or private schools and\u00a0requires completion of a minor in teacher education.<\/p>\n

The B.S. in Computer Science has two option concentrations for students to choose: B.S. in Computer Science with option concentration in Computer Game and Animation Design for students interested in innovative video game development which offers experience in highly competitive introductory and advanced topics of game programming and art skills as well as mobile apps.<\/p>\n

B.S. in Computer Science with option concentration in Computer Technology which concentrates on Information Technology, Industrial Technology and applications of computing including the\u00a0electronic systems and devices in the creation of computer hardware and software.\u00a0The graduate program in Computer Science offers a\u00a0Master in Computers and Information Science\u00a0with a dual course delivery of on campus or fully on-line.<\/p>\n

B.S. Computer Science Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)<\/h3>\n

Graduates of the B.S. Computer Science program are expected to attain the following within a few years of graduation:<\/p>\n

  1. Ability to solve complex computing problems using theory, methods and algorithms as well as design and implement the solutions efficiently using software tools and programming languages.<\/li>\n
  2. Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and engage in life-long learning, embracing the latest practices, methods, and technologies in computer science.<\/li>\n
  3. Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the ethical and legal principles regarding the computing profession.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    B.S. Computer Science Student Outcomes<\/h3>\n

    1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions<\/li>\n
    2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program\u2019s discipline<\/li>\n
    3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts<\/li>\n
    4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles<\/li>\n
    5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program\u2019s discipline<\/li>\n
    6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
