Subject: Campus Update
I hope you all are safe and healthy during this first full week of July.
We staying diligent in monitoring the situation concerning the COVID-19 virus. We remain committed to bringing our students back safely to campus in August. Please know, that our Reopening Working Group and our Risk Management Task Force are continuing to meet and review our situation, responses, and planning.
Our Summer enrollments have been solid for Summer I and Summer II. Considering the situations we are in, this is very welcome news. As we discussed in our Campus Assembly last month, the conservative outlook for enrollment and revenue for the fall is still unchanged. We will not know for at least two months the results of our work in recruitment and retention. Thank you for all your time and work in nurturing and advising our returning and prospective students. The fruits of that work is showing up in our summer semesters.
You may be noticing PPE being distributed throughout campus. These include plastic desk shields, cleaning supplies, wall-mounted and bottle hand sanitizers, disposable masks and other items. We were fortunate to acquire a Sophia Testing Machine this past weekend. This instrument will allow us to receive COVID test results in 15-20 minutes. Our Health Services Department has also received training on the Sophia machine and its capabilities. If you need additional supplies, please contact the Physical Plant.
We continue to require a face covering by all people who are in buildings on campus.
Athletic COVID Testing
Yesterday, our Health Services Department conducted tests on student-athletes and staff who are always able to return to campus early for training in July. They tested 107 individuals. Of those, 106 tested negative and 1 tested positive. The individual who tested positive is quarantined off campus and persons who were in close contact with that individual have been traced and are also quarantined. Thank you so much – Health Services staff and Athletic Training staff! We also applaud the work of Athletic administration and staff who sent out a communication to the early returning athletes several weeks ago stressing that they must be diligent and safe in their activities and interactions prior to coming to campus. We hope the results of the tests yesterday might be a result of our students taking our campus mission seriously.
Nursing NCLEX Exams
Great news for the Department of Nursing!
We received official word today that our 2020 Nursing graduates passed their NCLEX exam at a rate of 97.3%. This is the third highest in the state behind John Brown University and Harding University – and – #1 among state-supported four year universities. Congratulations to our dedicated Nursing team and Nursing students!
Reminder of dates ahead:

August 10 & 11 – Registration

Thank you to each of you for helping to keep our campus safe. It will continue to take all of us, all the time!
