What is the difference between non-verbal and verbal communication? How can I improve my communication?<\/p><p>Communication is more than just exchanging words; it\u2019s about connecting with others using both verbal and non-verbal cues. Research shows that 93% of effective communication is nonverbal, leaving only 7% for the words themselves. When you want to gain communication skills, you will need to master active listening, empathy, non-verbal communication, adaptability, confidence, and emotional intelligence.<\/p><p><strong>Non-Verbal Communication:<\/strong><\/p><p>When we think about communication, verbal exchanges often come to mind first. However, non-verbal communication is equally\u2014if not more\u2014important. It\u2019s a language we use every day without realizing it. For instance, hearing something sad may cause us to frown, a non-verbal way of expressing emotion.<\/p><p>Non-verbal communication includes your facial expression, gestures, posture, and tone of voice when speaking or listening. Observing these cues in a group can help you adapt to situations by mirroring the communication styles of those around you.<\/p><p><strong>Verbal Communication:<\/strong><\/p><p>Verbal communication, whether spoken or written, is about choosing the right words and delivering them effectively. While public speaking often gets the spotlight, verbal communication includes other vital forms:<\/p><ol><li><strong>Interpersonal Communication<\/strong><ul><li>Conversations between two people, like chatting with a friend or colleague.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Group Conversations<\/strong><ul><li>Discussions in small groups, such as collaborating on a project.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Public Speaking<\/strong><ul><li>Addressing larger audiences, from classroom presentations to professional speeches.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol><p><strong>Strategies to Improve:<\/strong><\/p><p>The best advice to improve your communication is that practice makes perfect.
