Artist Biography: Ian Frisby is a 3D modeler and creature designer that was born and lives in Arkansas. He is a graduate of Southern Arkansas University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Gaming, Animation, and Simulation Design.
Ian creates 3D models to be used in video games and animations. His work consists of characters and creatures along with objects to be used as everyday items such as guns, beds, rooms, etc. He creates models based on his own designs and by following the actual blueprints of existing items to make them as realistic as possible.
When he was a child, Ian would watch cartoons and play games with his father, which is what sparked his interest in art. Since then, Ian has been actively taking art classes and learning about the industry. He would also watch wildlife documentaries which has influenced his love for creature design. As a child, Ian always enjoyed Natural Geographic shows about wildlife and was inspired by how the animal kingdom has adapted over the years.
Ian hopes that his art is easy to understand, such that the viewer knows what the item in question is from a glance. Ian strives to make realistic creatures that look like they belong to a cohesive world. He does this by first creating sketches, finding references for the item in question, modeling in Maya or Blender, and then rendering them in the those same programs.

This series shows a character of mine that I modeled and adapted into a more human form as a personal project.
