New freshmen may begin classes during the summer. Registration for the first summer session is May 23 beginning at 8:00 a.m. in Overstreet Hall.\u00a0 If you take summer classes, you must still come to orientation. Contact the advising center by e-mail at bam@saumag.edu to make special accommodations for orientation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
Prior to pre-registration or registration, you must be admitted to Southern Arkansas University.<\/p>\n
After being admitted to the University, each student must register for courses at the time designated by the University. The student is responsible for the accuracy of the registration schedule, which should correspond with planning a program of study and meeting the requirements of graduation.<\/p>\n
Incoming freshman will have the opportunity to be advised and pre-register for classes during summer orientation sessions called BAM<\/a> (Becoming a Mulerider).<\/p>\n For fall registration, you will be invited to attend a registration event during the summer months.\u00a0 For spring registration, please contact the Office of Admission at (870) 235-4040 for information regarding registration dates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Southern Arkansas University students must meet criteria as determined by their academic in order to web register through Campus Connect. To web register, a student must:<\/p>\n See more detailed information about how to register for classes through Campus Connect<\/a>.<\/p>\n The\u00a0last day a student will be allowed to register<\/strong>\u00a0is the\u00a0Wednesday of the second week of classes<\/strong>\u00a0of a regular semester or the third day of the first week of a summer session.<\/p>\n Students entering late (after the regular registration period) must pay a $50 late registration fee and may be required to take a reduced class load.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n A completed\u00a0<\/span>transfer scholarship application<\/a>\u00a0must be submitted by the priority deadline of March 15.\u00a0 These scholarships require 48 transferable hours and a 3.0 GPA.\u00a0 The transfer scholarships are limited and awarded on a competitive basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Submit the\u00a0<\/span>application for admission<\/a>.\u00a0 You need to have official transcripts from each educational institution previously attended sent to the Office of Admissions. Official transcripts are those received by mail directly from the issuing institution.\u00a0 After you have been admitted, you will need to submit proof of immunization to the Office of Admissions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n SAU has articulation\/transfer agreements in place with area community colleges.\u00a0 If your community college is not listed in the articulation guides, we will be glad to offer an initial transcript review to help determine what credits will transfer to SAU.\u00a0\u00a0 Note that only courses completed with a C grade or higher will be accepted for transfer credit.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n You will receive a mailed acknowledgment that will indicate any needed items to complete your admission process.\u00a0 An admission decision will be made once we have enough academic information to determine that you have a 2.0 GPA for admittance.\u00a0 If you are currently enrolled in another institution, your admission file will not be complete until we receive completed official transcripts.\u00a0 Once you have been fully admitted, you will receive an official acceptance letter.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n The limits vary on the number of credits.\u00a0 We will apply up to 68 transferable hours from an institutionally accredited two-year institution towards a baccalaureate degree at SAU.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n You must<\/b> send a final official transcript from the college\/university that awarded your credit to the SAU admissions office. Your orientation advisor will have a copy of the official transcript in your file if you provided the official transcript as requested.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n SAU maintains an average 17-to-1 student-teacher ratio with class sizes for lower-level classes or general education classes unusually being around 30 to 35, though sometimes much smaller.\u00a0 Class sizes drop significantly once you start your upper-level classes with many ranging from 10 to 15 students.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n All of our\u00a0<\/span>academic degree plans<\/a>\u00a0are available online.\u00a0 If you need a hard copy, please contact the Advising and Assistance Center at (870) 235-5175.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n For any problems regarding tuition assistance, students should contact Student Accounts at 870-235-4019 .<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n If you are experiencing issues with enrollment, please contact:<\/p>\n Can I attend summer sessions at SAU as an incoming freshman?
