Don will be talking about the extensive research he has been carrying out on rock art on Petit Jean Mountain in the Arkansas River Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Don Higgins is a life member of the Arkansas Archeological Society and has reported more than forty archeological sites. As a certified master naturalist and amateur archeologist, he studies, writes, and speaks on the natural and cultural history of Arkansas, with a special interest in Petit Jean Mountain\u2019s Native American rock art.\u00a0 Don&#8217;s rock art project has resulted in the discovery of more than half of Petit Jean Mountain&#8217;s 482 known rock paintings.\u00a0 He is a retired United States Air Force pilot with degrees in geography, surveying technology, and management.\u00a0 He lives in southern Conway County.<\/p>\n<p>Come hear about Arkansas rock art through the eyes of one of our avid volunteers\u2014<b>Tuesday, February 11, 7:00pm in the Magnolia Room, upstairs in the Reynolds Center on the campus of Southern Arkansas University.<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When:\u00a0 February 11, 2014, 7pm Where: The Magnolia Room, second floor of the Reynolds Center on the SAU Campus, Magnolia, AR Our first Kadohadacho speaker for the Spring season will be Don Higgins who will continue our 2013-2014 theme\u2014iconography.
