Drexler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to Carl Carlson-Drexler on the successful defense of his Ph.D. dissertation at the College of William and Mary this morning at 9:00 am. Carl\u2019s dissertation, entitled \u201cDooley\u2019s Ferry: The Archaeology of a Civilian Community in Wartime,\u201d was based on 6 years\u2019 worth of archeology here in southwestern Arkansas using resources and staff from the Arkansas Archeological Survey and volunteers from the Arkansas Archeological Society. Photo by Anthony Clay Newton.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Carl\u2019s dissertation committee was chaired by Dr. Fred Smith (Associate Professor of Anthropology at William and Mary), and included Drs. Jamie Brandon (AAS-SAU Research Station Archeologist), Marley Brown (Research Professor of Anthropology at William and Mary), Grey Gundaker (Dittman Professor of American Studies and Anthropology at William and Mary), Scott Nelson (Legum Professor of History at William and Mary), and Matthew Liebmann (Associate Professor of Anthropology in the Archaeology Program at Harvard University).<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, many other people helped Carl in his work at Dooley\u2019s Ferry including Bud Martin, Patrick Martin, Keenan Williams, Peggy Lloyd, Anthony Clay Newton, David Markus, John Samuelsen, Tim Mulvihill, Benji Bobo, Nakia Nelson, Josh Williams, Guy Bobo, Billy Nations, Glendon Bobo, Meeks Etchieson, Tom Green, Michael Hargrave, and David Jeane\u2026and those who volunteered during the excavations\u2014Kj\u00e4rstin Carlson-Drexler, Ernest Turner, James Weatherington, Stephanie McDaniel, Debbie Derrick, Luke Morris, Jason Walbaum, Ashley Applebee, Teka McGlothlin, Logan Smith, Holly Howard, Stephanie Kiilsgaard, David M.
