The Master of Science in Computer and Information Science (MCIS) is designed to allow for flexible scheduling of course work to be completed on an accelerated time table of just 1.5 years. Or students can opt to complete the program requirements at their own pace, beginning any semester.
The curriculum emphasizes web-based and database technologies that are essential for information systems in industry. Southern Arkansas University’s MCIS program will provide students with specialized knowledge and training needed to meet professional excellence for successful careers in CIS.
A few of the specific career tracks anticipated for graduates include; Information System Project Management, System Analyst and Design or Development Specialist, Database Administrators, and pre-Ph.D. and MD Research Assistant Data Managers.
Delivery of courses
There are no pre-requisites in the MCIS curriculum. To meet the international residence requirements, courses are available completely online or students can study in residence at SAU-Magnolia benefiting from in-class interaction.
Undergraduate Requirements
MCIS program applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Students with a bachelor’s degree in other areas will be considered, but may be required to demonstrate basic mathematics and computer programming knowledge for placement purposes.
