The Crime Alerts or Timely Warnings documented here are pursuant to the requirement of the Jeanne Clery Act. An alert is posted when the university considers a crime to pose an on-going threat to the university community. ALERTS

 

April 19, 2012 –

 Robbery

 On Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at approximately 11:30 P.M. a female reported being robbed in the University Village Apartments parking lot near Buildings 2 and 3. This incident occurred sometime between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.

 Please remember the keys to personal safety are awareness and assertiveness.  Look assertive, confident, and aware of your surroundings.  Trust your intuition.  If a particular situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alterna­tive.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help.  Keep keys accessible and wear comfortable clothing for added safety and defense.

 Turn around and confront someone you think is following you; the surprise of a hostile look will deter most assailants.  Trust your instincts.  Know vulnerable targets of the assailant; eyes, nose, throat, stomach, kneecaps, and groin.

 Information has been obtained on a suspect in this case.

 Timely Warning 12-01

April 17, 2010 –

FORICIBLE FONDLING

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, at approximately 8:00 p.m. a female student reported being forcibly fondled outside Building 3 at the University Village Apartments. This incident occurred sometime between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010.

Please remember the keys to personal safety are awareness and assertiveness.  Look assertive, confident, and aware of your surroundings.  Trust your intuition.  If a particular situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alterna­tive.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help.  Keep keys accessible and wear comfortable clothing for added safety and defense.

Timely Warning 10-02

March 18, 2010 -

WEAPON POSSESSION ARREST

On Thursday, March 18, 2010, the University Police Department responded to a report of a weapon found by university employees in a room at Talley Hall.  The University Police took possession of the weapon, located, and arrested the student involved.

At no time was anyone in danger on campus.

February 4, 2009 -

BURGLARY

On Wednesday, February 4, 2009, the University Police Department responded to a burglary at Wilson Hall. This incident occurred sometime between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. A wallet was stolen in the incident from an unlocked office.

Please remember DO NOT leave your office unlocked and unattended, even if it is for just one to two minutes. The university community is reminded to always keep windows and doors locked when you leave offices and residences. Also be familiar with your surroundings to protect yourselves and your property.

December 18, 2008 -

BURGLARY

At approximately 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, the University Police Department responded to a burglary at Wilson Hall. This incident occurred sometime between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008. A large amount of U.S. Currency was stolen in the incident from an unlocked office.

The university community is reminded to keep windows and doors locked when you leave offices and residences. Also be familiar with your surroundings to protect yourselves and your property.

September 5, 2008 -

BURGLARY

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008, the University Police Department responded to a burglary at the University Village Apartments.  The following items were taken: $170.00 in U.S. Currency and an IPOD player.

BURGLARY

At approximately 8:51 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, the University Police Department responded to a burglary at the Rider Rink located on West University Street. This incident occurred in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 29, 2008.

The university community is reminded to keep windows and doors locked when you leave offices and residences. Also be familiar with your surroundings to protect yourselves and your property.

April 14, 2008 -

BURGLARY

At approximately 9:50 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008, the University Police Department responded to a burglary at Greene Hall located on the campus of Southern Arkansas University. This incident occurred on Monday, April 14, 2008 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. A laptop computer, X-box 360, Playstation and numerous games were taken.

BURGLARY

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, the University Police Department responded to a burglary at the Rider Rink located on West University Street. This incident occurred sometime between Monday, March 31, 2008 and Wednesday, April 2, 2008. A speaker system was stolen in the incident.
