Aboutn

Megan Maye, the Southern Arkansas University Mulerider, saddled up Molly Ann the mule for a ride across Arkansas to celebrate SAU’s Fall 2013 record enrollment.

SAU’s award-winning video production crew will be filmed the famous duo of Maye and Molly Ann in Hot Springs on Wednesday, November 13, and in Little Rock that evening and into the following day on Thursday, November 14 (see a more detailed itinerary below). The footage was used for an SAU commercial highlighting the University’s broadening reach across Arkansas. The video debuted at the Chenal 9 IMAX Theatre on December 6, 2013.

Residents of Arkansas were encouraged to be on the lookout for Molly’s trailer on the road or for Megan and Molly at key locations in Hot Springs and Little Rock. Hundreds of posts were made on social media, and John Lamar, 16, of Little Rock was the lucky winner of an iPad from the “#ISpyMolly” contest.

The Muleridersj

SAU has one of the most unique mascots in all of collegiate sports, and the Mulerider’s upcoming tour of Arkansas is representative of SAU’s broadening reach across the state. Even though the tradition of the Mulerider dates back almost a hundred years at SAU, Megan Maye has taken the coveted position to a whole new level.

Optimaggie, the official mascot during the 1950s and '60s, poses in front of his trailer.

She and Molly have been photographed and starred in SAU videos more times than one could count. Maye is a senior in the College of Business at SAU, and she is ready to ride out with a bang for this tour of Arkansas.

#ISpyMolly Contestq

John Tafari Lamar, 16, of Little Rock, took a “selfie” with Molly Ann during the Mulerider’s walk around the Riverwalk in Downtown Little Rock on November 14. Lamar’s photo was randomly drawn from the “#ISpyMolly” posts. He received a new iPad for winning the contest.
