The Department of Theatre and Mass Communication offers programs designed to acquaint students with the nature of communication and to prepare them for professional work in a variety of fields. The department offers a B.A. degree in theatre and a B.A. in mass communication with an emphasis in digital media production or an emphasis in mass media.
Courses are designed to prepare the major for work in mass communication, theatre and for graduate study in mass communication and theatre.
The mass communication curriculum has a core of introductory courses common to all mass media fields. The department also offers practical experience on the weekly student newspaper and the yearbook. Instruction for digital media students is conducted in a computer laboratory and relies on the latest software used by professionals in the field.
The theatre curriculum offers classroom training and production experience for the serious student of theatre, teachers in theatre, and the humanist seeking elective hours of work and study. The department produces four major theatrical productions each academic year.
