Teacher Licensure
Applications for teacher licensure are submitted to the Office of Admissions, Field Experience, and Licensure (AFEL).
Initial License: a three-year license for graduates of an SAU bachelor’s level teacher education program or the Master of Arts in Teaching program who have passed all Praxis I tests and all applicable Praxis II tests.
Provisional License: a one-year license for students in the Master of Arts in Teaching program and for graduates of a bachelor’s level teacher education program who have passed all Praxis I tests but not all applicable Praxis II tests. A candidate can be recommended for a provisional license only if hired by a school in the state of Arkansas.

Note: Candidates must request that an official transcript be sent to the AFEL Office. Requests for transcripts are sent from the candidate to the SAU Office of the Registrar (see below).
Initial License
• Application for Teacher Licensure available at www.arkansased.org
• A copy of the candidate’s Praxis score report
• Official transcript—candidate must request transcript at www.saumag.edu
• Proof of background check, no older than 1 year
Provisional License, Master of Arts in Teaching Candidates
• Application for Teacher Licensure available at www.arkansased.org
• A copy of the candidate’s Praxis score report
• Official transcript—candidate must request transcript at www.saumag.edu
• Proof of background check, no older than 1 year
• Letter of hire from the school district specifying grade level and subject
• Pathwise mentor form
Provisional License (graduates of a bachelor’s level teacher education program)
• Application for Teacher Licensure available at www.arkansased.org
• A copy of the candidate’s Praxis score report
• Official transcript—candidate must request transcript at www.saumag.edu
• Proof of background check, no older than 1 year
• Letter of hire from the school district specifying grade level and subject
