Admission

 Steps:

1. Apply and be admitted to Southern Arkansas University (SAU Office of Admissions)

2. Apply to the Department of Teacher Education through College of Education, Admissions, Field Experience and Licensure Office (AFEL Office )

Undergraduate students must make application generally during the second  semester of the sophomore year.

Applications are available through AFEL Office. General admission requirements consist of the following:

    • Completion of at least forty-two hours
    • Grade point average of 2.5 or higher
    • Grade of C in all required field courses, English and math courses
    • Passing the Pre-Professional Skills Test (Praxis I). Reading–172 or higher. Writing–173 or higher.  Math–171 or higher

Transfer students who transfer to the University from two year community or junior colleges must meet the requirements listed above to pursue an undergraduate major in the College of Education.
