COMPASS® is a computer-adaptive placement and assessment system. The Compass test is used for placement into initial classes at Southern Arkansas University.  It may or may not be used for admission purposes.  You will need to check with the Office of Admission to determine if  the Compass  is for you.

The test measures a student’s reading, writing and mathematical skills.  The cost of each test is ten dollars ($10.00).  You will receive a test report and a copy will be forwarded to the Office of Admissions upon request.

On the day of testing:

  • Bring your testing fee
  • Bring a picture I.D.
  • An ACT approved calculator may be used; however, there is a calculator available on the math section of the test.
  • Report to the Donald Reynolds Campus and Community Building, Room 216
