Finance

What is Finance?

Finance is the set of activities dealing with the management of money. More specifically, it is the decision of raising and using of funds for businesses, and of maximizing wealth through investing and financial planning for individuals.

What can you do with a degree in Finance?

The opportunities with a finance degree span many areas including corporate and international financial management, personal planning, and investment services. Brokerage firms, commercial and investment banks, insurance companies, and other financial intermediary companies employ finance graduates.
With a finance degree, you will be equipped with tools for understanding the function and applications of financial markets and the acquisition and allocation of funds for public and private sectors in domestic and international organizations. You will also learn skills to grow personal wealth.

What is unique about the SAU finance program?

We offer a traditional finance program and a financial planning program. Students will take finance courses, such as financial management, investment, retirement planning, and insurance, offered by professors with real-world experiences. Students will also have the opportunity to manage an investment fund and acquire hands-on experience in security research, valuation of risky assets, asset allocation, and portfolio management. Upon graduation, our students are ready to work independently for a financial institution or assist clients in financial planning. Our graduates are hired by prestigious financial companies such as Merrill Lynch, Edward Jones, Washington Mutual Funds, etc.
