Clubs, Internships, & Academic Opportunities

Southern Arkansas University offers students countless opportunities for scholastic enrichment, fulfillment and future success through academic and extracurricular activities.

Our amazingly diverse student clubs and organizations are constantly sponsoring events, holding programs, and offering opportunities to volunteer. From cultural events, such as the Asian Studies Club “Chinese Poetry Reading,” to performances by ENCORE, the Department of Theatre and Mass Communication’s student performance troupe, to the “Hoops for Hearts” fundraiser sponsored by the HKR Club, it is easy for everyone to get involved and stay active on campus.

Students looking to broaden their horizons that are less concerned with on campus activities may prefer to take advantage of SAU’s opportunities to travel, whether domestically or abroad.  Students in the French Club travel to Baton Rouge or New Orleans each year for Mardi Gras, while the College of Business sponsors trips annually to metropolitan cities such as New York and Washington D.C.   Want to travel abroad?  SAU offers travel abroad programs in Mexico, Europe, and Russia.

Advance yourself professionally with internships, or membership in professional student organizations.  The College of Business’ Students in Free Enterprise and Phi Beta Lambda, as well as Alpha Gamma Rho, an agriculture fraternity, are excellent ways to gain experience and build your resume.
