As excited incoming SAU freshman come to campus throughout the summer for BAM (Becoming a Mulerider) orientation, SAU Communications is going to pull a select few academic achievers aside and highlight them in a new series called, “Mulerider Freshman Spotlights.” Check in weekly for new such features so you can start to meet the Mulerider class of 2017.
Morgan comes to SAU from Texarkana, Texas. She got the most out of her high school experience by participating in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Morgan was involved in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and track all four years of high school. During her freshman year of track, she qualified for regionals. In addition to all those sports, Morgan was treasurer of the National Honor Society, a member of the Key Club, and a member of the FCCLA. She graduated with honors in the top ten of her class.
Morgan plans to get just as involved in college activities. Although she does not plan to play sports, she plans to participate in intramural athletics and any other activity that interests her. Academically, she will pursue a degree in Business Finance.
Although Tesean is undecided about his major, he plans to play football for SAU. A Nashville, Ark. native, Tesean played football and baseball throughout high school. His athletic ability received an all-conference title.
Tesean says he chose SAU because the environment fit him best. He says that he looks forward to making a fresh start as well as a name for himself on and off the field.
That is not the case; Abby wants to follow her heart and pursue the new Computer Game and Animation Design program at SAU. She said that she had thought about nursing or something in the medical field, but while exploring art her senior year in high school, she knew art was what made her happy.
In high school, Abby was in the National Honors Society, Junior Service League, soccer, oratorio, Madrigal singers, and finished in the top ten percent in her class as well as being an Arkansas Scholar. While at SAU, she plans to be involved in intramurals, choir, honors college, greek life, and student activities.
